HMG's Accomplishments: 2009 in Review


HMG has been blessed this year by achieving over 100 percent organic growth in performance.  We have done this by improving performance of our clients, both public and private, and from healthcare to technology-based companies serving many industries.  This speaks volumes about the quality of resources HMG has been able to attract to address the complexities of business, especially health systems that are dealing with both regulatory and healthcare delivery challenges.  Our clients have relied on HMG to help improve their overall performance as evidenced by the engagements identified below. 

We have served community medical centers, large integrated health systems and complex university health systems.  In addition, we have advised Venture Capital and Private Equity companies on acquisition, divestiture and performance improvement for portfolio companies.  HMG has also advised both public and private technology companies from 3 million to Fortune 500 organizations on how to improve the marketability of their software and service solutions and/or performance of their companies. 

Business and IT Advisory Services

HMG has been very successful this year in helping our clients rethink their business and/or marketing strategy or achieve overall Business, Marketing, Operations or IT performance improvement through the comprehensive advisory services provided.  A few examples are as follows:

  • For a large Fortune 500 technology company, HMG provided product development and product marketing direction on a key strategic healthcare solution that will be announced later this year.

  • Completed a comprehensive e-health market and segmentation study for a healthcare services and software company, redirecting the deployment of the company's people and resources.

  • For an east coast systems integration company, HMG conducted preliminary due diligence of a potential acquisition and provided strategic recommendations to the technology company's Board of Directors. 

  • Entered into a full business assessment, restructuring and repositioning agreement with a mid-western software company. The assessment focused on strategy, marketing and operations improvement with HMG assisting in the implementation of the transformation.

  • For a community medical center, HMG conducted a comprehensive IT assessment in addition to providing IT leadership and organizational structure recommendations.

  • Entered into an engagement with a large northeastern medical center to evaluate the performance of its outsourced IT vendor and future direction of its IT resources.

  • HMG has provided radiology and cardiology PACS assessments and selection engagements for several health systems.

  • HMG has developed numerous Meaningful Use roadmaps for both academic and community medical centers which will help transition clients from their current state to achieve compliance for ARRA funding.

  • For several Venture Capital companies, HMG has provided business assessments, technology assessments and supporting opinions for potential company additions to their portfolio.  HMG has also provided subsequent marketing strategy and positioning engagements for Venture Capital portfolio companies.

  • For a prestigious east coast academic medical center, HMG provided meaningful assessment strategy and a transformation roadmap in addition to developing frameworks for physician EMR deployment.


HMG Managed Services

As we have indicated previously, HMG is not a staff augmentation company.  To the contrary, HMG assumes full accountability and responsibility, managing various aspects of the business.  HMG can provide key leadership positions at the C-level, Marketing, Operations, or IT functions of an organization and/or run key project initiatives for both health systems and technology companies.

  • For a prestigious east coast medical center, HMG signed a long-term agreement to assume responsibility for the CIO position and several other leadership positions within IT.  In addition, HMG provided management leadership for the implementation of Cerner, Midas, ED, Bar Coding and e-Prescribe solutions.

  • For a community medical center, HMG assumed long-term responsibility for the CIO position in addition to assuming full accountability and responsibility for managing the selection, contracting and implementation of an enterprise-wide EMR solution.

  • HMG has also managed several other EMR selection and deployment initiatives for community medical centers as well as several Meditech current release upgrades.

  • For another prestigious medical center, HMG is managing the deployment of an enterprise-wide radiology PACS solution.
