Business Assessments
"HMG's Process for improving Business Performance is unlike anything we've ever experienced. It is market and fact-based, intelligent, detailed, and has organization behind each effort. Their Business Models have structure and measures that we've not seen before and they work. Our business has taken off using the metrics they provided and we haven't looked back" - CEO of HMG Technology Client
As evidenced by references of many companies (such as the CEO quote above), HMG's passion to improve a business's performance is reflected throughout our approach to Business Assessments, which we take quite seriously. Assessing a client's business (in whole or by its component parts) is important work. We have therefore developed a unique menu-driven approach for Business Assessments which can address client needs at two levels:
1. Overall Business Assessment (from Market Validation through Operational Excellence to final Business Model Optimization) - This can be a high level or a very detailed assessment of the entire business covering all processes and functions (including customer feedback), and looks for ways to leverage existing and future investments and align all priorities and company assets toward the company's mission. This work often includes recommendations on organizational structures that will best complement the mission.
2. Business Component Assessment is similar in approach to the overall Business Assessment but targets a specific component of the business for precise customization to address a particular client need. An example of this would be a particular Operations or Marketing opportunity or issue where HMG would provide the appropriate strategic and tactical recommendations/initiatives to remedy a situation.
Component Assessments can be performed within a function or department (e.g. Marketing, Finance, IT or Operations) or as part of a process across many functions (e.g. Sales pipeline and management process; Financial architecture, measurement and reporting process, etc.
The HMG Approach
Important, all HMG efforts are designed to enable performance enhancement using practical implementation tools and methods and our approach leaves very little open to imagination. For example, we do a detailed review of relevant business and competitive information and often perform a SWOT analysis (including pre-work required from the client) before engaging in detailed interviews with company employees and customers, assemble senior HMG employees (usually off-site) for a complete assessment of our findings and recommendations and then publish in a final report of presentation to the executive management team.
